Who & where we are

We are a West London based mountaineering club which welcomes climbers of all abilities,

including beginners. The HMC consists of about thirty members and some of us gather at the

Brunel University Climbing wall in Uxbridge on Tuesday nights. Just turn up and introduce yourself.

Look out for members wearing club t-shirts. If you want more information on the Brunel Wall

call the sports centre on 01895 265305.

What we do

As our name suggests we are a general Mountaineering Club and we cater for all, from the

enthusiastic walkers, through to keen mountaineers, rock & ice climbers, canoeists and even

fell runners. We spend most of the summer months visiting the various rock climbing

venues around the country rather than the bigger mountain ranges. We have an organised

club 'meet' every month and this usually involves camping or in the colder months a hut

meet or two. Check out the 2009 meets list (see left) for what's happening throughout

this year.

How to join us

You must be at least 18 years of age but apart from that there really is no other criteria. As

stated above we welcome people of all abilities, including beginners. If you want a formal

climbing course then I'm afraid that we won't be the club for you, but the more experienced

members are usually happy to take beginners out. It is strongly recommended that you

purchase a helmet if you don't already have one, it's essential equipment!

Benefits of joining

Your membership will include an Affiliated BMC membership, which covers you for third

party insurance. Membership is usually annual , renewable in January each year. Club

members get discounts in many outdoor gear shops across the UK, typically 10%. As

a club affiliated to the BMC we are able to book mountaineering huts in the UK for the

meets in the winter when the weather is not so predictable.
